Bordeaux put in a good effort, but concede in injury time

Sometimes in European football, you have evenings you'd rather forget. This was one of them. After going behind to a goal from Lacroix in the 22nd minute, the Girondins spent the rest of the match searching in vain for an equaliser. The red card shown to Wahbi Khazri at the end of the game changed nothing. The Girondins were beaten by a highly pragmatic Swiss side.

The Girondins went through the whole spectrum of emotions in the second half: headed out after a goal from Kuat (65’), they ultimately snatched qualification thanks to a superb goal from Enzo Crivelli (76’).
For their third game of the Ligue 1 season, Bordeaux travelled to face LOSC at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
