Bordeaux took on Angers this evening in their 5th league outing of the season. Trailing 0-1 at half time to a goal from Karl Toko Ekambi (38'), Bordeaux were unable to fight their way back into the game in the second half.
Despite dominating the game from start to finish, the Girondins got nothing from their trip to Normandy. Caen held on for the win (1-0), thanks to an early penalty struck by Delort (14'). The Ligue 1 season draws to a close, with Bordeaux finishing in 11th place.
After a promising first half, and a red card for Traoré which left Angers with 10 men, the Girondins slipped up and conceded three goals (61’, 64’, 88’). Rolan pulled one back, but the game was lost (70’).
In their 30th outing of the Ligue 1 season, the Girondins de Bordeaux travelled to Toulouse for the Garonne derby. Caught napping in the first few minutes by a goal from Wissam Ben Yedder (5’), this was a tough night for Bordeaux from start to finish. Ben Yedder doubled his tally (50’), before Martin Braithwaite (86’) and Oscar Trejo (90’) piled on the misery for the Girondins.
The Girondins were well beaten in Lyon tonight. Despite creating some good chances, Bordeaux were unable to overcome Lyon's superior pragmatism. Goals from Lacazette (40' et 88') and Kululu (90+3) leave the Girondins in 10th place with 33 points.
Girondins thrashed by Lille in League Cup semi-final
Bordeaux won't be going to the Stade de France just yet - their flying start to 2016 has come crashing down. The Girondins suffered their first defeat in 11 matches tonight, beaten by Lille in the League Cup semi-final. Benzia (7'), Sané (41' o.g.), Soumaoro (44'), Bauthéac (56') and Boufal (90') got the goals for Lille, with Clément Chantôme's 33rd-minute equaliser a footnote. The Girondins need to pick themselves up, dust themselves down as look ahead to the game against Rennes this Sunday.
Bordeaux suffered their 6th defeat of the season this evening in Bastia, conceding in the final minutes of the match. The Girondins now find themselves in 17th position in Ligue 1, leapfrogged by Bastia. Willy Sagnol's players will need to dig in and give it their all between now and the Christmas break, starting this Sunday against Guingamp.
Bordeaux were overwhelmed this evening by a strong Caen team. The visitors from Normandy clearly deserved their 4-1 victory. Patrice Garande's side took the lead early (6'), but otherwise the first half was fairly evenly-matched. The second half was a different story, as the Girondins conceded three (56', 61 & 77'). Enzo Crivelli got a consolate goal at the end (90'), but Bordeaux just didn't show up tonight.
The Girondins were unable to get the better of Liverpool despite a spirited team performance. The first half saw all three goals scored in a matter of eight minutes! Henri Saivet put Bordeaux ahead (33'), before Milner equalised from the penalty spot (38') and Benteke scored the winner for the Reds (41').
